 Information for Competitive Parents and Athletes - F.A.Q. 

 

1. Program Structure: How is the Competitive Program Structure? Competitive programs are designed for the full competitive season, 12 months from July 1 to June 30. Training plans and fee structures are based on the commitment of a full season (not month to month). To confirm acceptance of a spot, complete registration within 2 weeks in the system after receiving your offer of a spot on the team.

  • Training: When do athletes train and what do they wear?  Competitive programs are designed for a full competitive season, 12 months from July 1 to June 30. WAG/MAG July - June, Demo Sept -June. 
  • Schedules: Training timetable for each group is as listed in the system. Unlike recreational program that allows options, the day/time of competitive classes are not flexible. Once accepted, gymnasts must attend as assigned. See your own schedule in your account, under the tab "Calendar".

  • Drop off and Pick up: Please no early drop off, nor late pick up. Children under 13 should have adult accompany in and out of the facility (not outside parking lot). 

  • Class Viewing for Parents: Either at the beginning, or near the end of practice, 1 parent at a time, up to maximum 30 min/day  This will help athletes to better focus on their tasks at hand.
  • Athlete attire: Gymsuits and shorts for female athletes; T-shorts and shorts for male athletes. Bring grips (if using),  wrist bands, chalk and other paraphernalia as needed.
  • Cel Phone Restriction and other items:  Cel phones cause distractions and cannot be used in class. They are for communicating with parents only. Do not wear jewellery, fit bit. Do not bring cash, expensive electronics to the gym. They cannot be taken into practice, and the club cannot be responsible for their safe keeping.

2.     Competing:  How many competitions and what levels will my child compete at?

  • Women's Artistic: 2 to 3 competitions a year, and if qualified, one Provincial Championships depending on the gymnast’s level; at the discretion of the head coach (Nov – May) 

  • Men’s Artistic: 2 to 4 competitions a year depending on the level of the gymnast (Provincial Levels, Interclub 1 – 4) at the discretion of the head coach (TBD sometime during Dec – June)

  • Demo Team: 2 - 4 competitions a year at the discretion of the head coach (TBD during Mar – June)

  • Competing Levels: Decision is made by the head coach of each discipline. Working with the coaching team, he or she decides on the most appropriate level of competition for each athlete. 

 3. Communication: How to find out about competitions, schedule change and connect with coaches?

  • Competitions Dates and Training schedule as they become available, will be listed  in the system. Log into your account and check own calendar, and pay attention to updates.

  • Email Communication: In your account, be sure to accept emails sent from the system. Otherwise, you will miss all the important notification send via the registration system. If you move, change your email address, or telephone numbers, please update your record by logging into your account.

  •  Parents wish to discuss a child’s progress: please request an appointment with your program head coach by emailing ajax.acros@on.aibn.com. Please refrain from discussing with coaches in the hallway before or after class.

 4. Fees and other Commitments

  • Training Fee: Annual membership fee and training fee; Our club is non-profit, no tax added to listed fees. At time of registration, submit payment in lumpsum or equal payment plan (installment withdrawn automatically each month.) 

  • NSF fee for e-check is $25. Late registration fee: $50

  • Payment by credit card/e-check at pre-planned dates. Other forms (personal cheque, cash) are not accepted.

  • Competition entrance fee: Qualifier are invoice at time of registration. Payment in full or automatic equal payment plan as scheduled at time of registration.

  • Provincial Championships: Entrance fee and cost sharing (cover coach’s travel) to be determined when qualified.

  • Competition Uniforms: Gymsuits, singlets, tracksuit, or costumes (Demo team), down payment due at time of registration. Invoice and payment via your account in the system.

  • Compulsory extra commitment: Fundraising and Volunteer. Two times a year. Each family will be expected to contribute volunteer hours and monetary donations for each club event.

6. Injury and Withdrawal: During recovery, an injured athlete is expected to attend gym to do modified training. Out of pocket expenses not covered by OHIP may be eligible for insurance compensation. Parents may request claim form. Withdraw from program request must be submitted by writing an email to ajax.acros@on.aibn.com. Annual fee may be adjusted at the discretion of the club with 60 days notice (i.e. minimum 2 installments of fees forfeited after receiving notice).
